Leisure Centre Changing Room Refurbishment in Didcot
Universal Contracting Ltd was appointed to undertake the refurbishment and upgrade of the dry-side changing facilities at a leisure centre in Didcot. The project encompassed the male, female, and accessible changing rooms, together with associated toilet and shower facilities.
The works involved the complete strip-out and disposal of existing fixtures, fittings, wall tiling, and floor finishes. To improve the layout and functionality of the facilities, two existing blockwork walls were removed to create larger, open-plan shower and toilet areas within both the male and female changing rooms. Structural steel supports were installed to accommodate these alterations.
As part of the refurbishment, underground drainage modifications were carried out to facilitate the installation of new shower systems. New suspended ceilings and energy-efficient PIR-controlled LED lighting were installed throughout, followed by high-quality wall and floor tiling to provide a durable and modern finish.
The project also included the installation of new toilet cubicles, sanitaryware, and contemporary LED backlit mirrors, enhancing both the functionality and appearance of the facilities. The accessible toilet was fully refurbished and upgraded with a new Doc M compliant package, ensuring compliance with current accessibility standards.
The project was successfully completed within budget and in accordance with the client's requirements, delivering modern, attractive, and highly functional changing facilities.

Roof Overclad in Basingstoke
Universal Contracting Ltd was appointed to deliver a comprehensive roof over-cladding project to upgrade and extend the lifespan of the existing roofing system.
The works commenced with the installation of scaffolding, safety netting, and air monitoring measures to ensure a safe and compliant working environment throughout the project. Existing rooflights were carefully removed and disposed of before the installation of a new Ashgrid support system and high-performance thermal insulation.

Hotel Ensuite Refurbishments in Brook
Universal Contracting Ltd was appointed to undertake the complete refurbishment of four en-suite bathrooms. The project involved the full strip-out and removal of existing sanitaryware, fixtures, and flooring.

OKW Enclosures - Roof & Cladding Replacement
UCL were approached by OKW Enclosures to tender for their Roof and Cladding Replacement project. After a detailed and comprehensive tender submission was sent, we were awarded the project. The works included removal and disposal of the existing roof sheets and wall cladding, replacement of all abutment flashings, gutter linings, parapet wall sheeting, cap flashings and weatherproofing details. We also replaced all corner, jamb and window flashings to the building along with new internal flashings to the underside of the guttering.


Associated British Ports - Line Markings
We were the appointed contractor to carry out a refresh of the road markings at Associated British Ports in Southampton. The works involved hydro-blasting the redundant markings and applying new thermoplastic markings to the newly marked out areas.


Swan Centre - External Decoration
UCL were tasked with carrying out high-level exterior painting above the car park entrance at the Swan Centre in Eastleigh. We cleaned down all the areas to be painted and applied a blue and white masonry paint to prolong the paint covering as long as possible.


All Saints Academy - Internal Refurbishment Works
UCL were the successful tenderer to carry out some internal refurbishment works at All Saints Academy. The works included the replacement of ceiling files, removal and reinstallation of smoke heads and upgrade of the existing lighting to LED.
Whilst on site, we also installed a new MF Ceiling to some toilets in their Music Block and constructed a new stud wall with acoustic insulation and fire-rated double door sets.

Nigel Bowes Academy - Female Washroom Conversion
UCL were contracted to divide a room in two to form two ladies toilets. We partly demolished a clockwork wall to form a second opening to the room. The works involved installation of support lintels, construction of timber framed double boarded stud walls, hygienic wall cladding, new plasterboard ceiling, a self-contained cubicle in each of the newly formed rooms (including toilet, semi-recessed vanity unit and wash-hand basin with non-concussive taps.
We also installed new flooring throughout along with reconfiguring the lighting circuits to suit.

Royal Southampton Yacht Club - Building Refurbishment
UCL were the appointed contractor to carry out some major refurbishment works for Royal Southampton Yacht Club. These works were following a major salt-water flood earlier in the year.
The works involved a Ladies, Gents and DDA toilet and shower refurbishment, replacing all vanity units, cubicles, toilet pans and radiators.
We also replaced all doors, skirtings and flooring throughout along with a full redecoration.

South Oxfordshire District Council - Vanity Units
UCL were contracted to manufacture and install bespoke vanity units with low level worktops to enable access for wheelchair users. The vanity units were formed from solid grade laminate material. UCL also installed lift off access panels along with illuminated storage bins and GHD professional hair dryers.

ACS Cobham International Schools - Internal Alterations
UCL were awarded an internal alterations contract in the summer of 2023. Some of the works included forming new openings within walls, construction of a new timber framed ceiling, glazing replacements, kitchen refurbishments, replacement floor finishes throughout and redecoration.

Theatre Refurbishment for a Film Studios in Iver Heath
We were the successful contractor to carry out a large refurbishment project at a Film Studios in Iver Heath.
The project involved stripping out all existing lighting and power, installation of new underfloor heating, full electrical works to the theatre, new lighting, new air conditioning, new flooring and re-decoration throughout.

Foray Ford - Handrail Installation
UCL were asked to install a new handrail system with safety glass. The handrail had a stainless steel finish which was then powder coated white. 10mm safety glass was then installed with four holes for fittings.
